I’m back from Vegas and I’m here to tell you that I had a great time… but it is so good to be home! I always like Vegas for about the first 48 hours… then I feel like I need to get away. We arrived on Monday, hung out, signed up for timeshare presentations, Tuesday we went to presentations and a show. Wednesday morning all I really wanted to do was go to the local Borders Bookstore get a latte, browse the books, open my computer, blog and read email.
I am a real party animal, huh?
Well there is no Borders on the strip, go figure! We went downtown… no Borders there either. I know there is one somewhere… just not anywhere I was. So we ended up eating at the Rainforest Cafe at MGM and that made me relax a little. At least it offered a break from the casinos! We were fortunate to get a table right by one of their beautiful saltwater aquariums, where I named a couple of the fish Stripe and Spot. Stripe sat on the bottom of the aquarium and spot would visit him occasionally. When Stripe finally turned and swam a bit in my direction I laughed. He had buck teeth and a big gap in the front center! They gave him “personality.” I was just happy for the diversion (and the tasty grilled Mahi Mahi that I had for dinner!)
Now we are back in Michigan, where people are not throwing their money away! We could use some of that Vegas free-wheeling here to perk up the economy. I hereby invite some of the high rollers to come into town and take a gamble here… and I don’t mean at our casinos… I mean in business! A gamble in Michigan will pay off in dividends besides just money (and tax breaks… it is your chance to be a bona fide hero!) Come put our people to work and help us through the current downturn!
