Psychology Student’s Disease…

Now as sure as I was that my Enneagram Type is a Seven… I am now convinced that it is actually a Nine! Could it be the lecture (on Enneagram type Nine) I attended earlier today? I remember this from Abnormal Psych class. I remember that every chapter presented some new facet that resonated on some level. In 16 weeks I had been convinced, temporarily, that –that’s me!– on many of the chapters! I am happy to say in retrospect that it wasn’t!

In this case though, I suspect that the Nine is a better fit for me than a Seven, and I just didn’t consider the Nine in much depth before. I was busy deciding between the Three and Seven, and overlooked the obvious Nine!  Over the next week I will look into this further and come to a decision.

I find value in the Enneagram models, although it is sometimes tricky to distinguish between the nuances of the different types and subtypes. My hope is to get better at this, and to that end I will be continuing my research.

  1. Okay, the jury is in and I am fessing up to really being a Seven. Someone unfamiliar with the enneagrams sat across from me the other day and in describing me, described(almost word for word)Helen Palmer’s description of a Seven. It was an odd experience, almost like the Universe was speaking to me through this individual.

  2. Hi Paula. I have found that looking back to how we were when younger (and less developed) helps a lot. Plus looking to have we behave when stressed or relaxed. When stressed I can shut down and give in / what’s the bother. When relaxed I suddenly worry about people I care for . You can guess my type.

  3. Would you be an 8 Andrew?

  4. Your indecision and ability to identify with multiple types is very nine-ish. Just sayin’.
