As a result of working with my life coach I have dropped 20 pounds since the beginning of June. The weight loss was almost effortless. It seems to have “magically” happened. It was a “side effect.” I may even drop more.
I like to refer to my weight loss as a physical manifestation of the spiritual changes that have occurred within me over this period of time. I have several major goals in my life right now. When we talked about self care, I stated that I knew how to lose weight. I felt like I didn’t have a lot of credibility though, since I was obviously overweight.
I’ve always been thin and when I was younger I had trouble gaining weight. Then it was discovered that I had Graves Disease… my thyroid was irradiated and now I rely on synthroid and my Endocrinologist to regulate my thyroid hormones.
I was at my heaviest this past winter and then I went on a low-carb diet and lost 10 pounds. I kept it off. This was encouraging to me, but only a drop in the bucket. I needed to drop a good 30 pounds so I had another 20 at least, to go! If I could just get the rest of the weight off I could maintain it, I thought.
It wasn’t until I sat and explained to my coach that I knew how to lose weight, that she questioned (and I questioned) then why didn’t I? This wasn’t a main focus, more of a conversation in passing… but it made me think. Deep down inside I had an issue to resolve. I thought about it and actually had a conversation with someone in my life and that cleared up my issue. Until I had pondered why I wasn’t losing weight, I really wasn’t “aware” of this issue. It’s like I hid it from myself. Once I turned inward and meditated, or sat with it, I suddenly knew the answer and addressed the issue. I proceeded to do the low-carb thing and the weight fell off. That’s it. No big deal… no hunger, very little exercise other than walking, no cravings…. well some cravings…
Actually, when I did have a craving, it was easy enough to satisfy. Starbucks! A sugar free soy vanilla latte, either hot or iced depending on the outside temperature, and caffeinated or decaf, depending on the time of day, was all I needed.
So I call this my Starbucks Diet! Hey if Jared can do a Subway Diet I can certainly do a Starbucks diet! Still on it. Still feeling great!
(The only change to my coffee routine was a move from skim milk at first to soy — I think I might be allergic to diary. I am seeing allergist and keeping food log and I’m finding that anytime I have whey or dairy I’m noticing symptoms — sinus pain.)
The secret to my amazingly easy weight loss is lots or protein! (I love chicken!) Some low-carb vegetables/salad, lots of water, and Starbucks for a treat once or twice a day as needed! You may recognize this as the old Atkins diet. I feel great when I eat this way. Generally my skin clears up and my energy goes up! So I figure it must agree with me!
