AT&T came out Friday to install U-Verse — that’s their cable TV and Internet product. My daughter just had hers installed a couple of weeks ago, finally… after over a month of snafu’s and reschedules.
So when my installer told me that there was an open problem on my order I wasn’t surprised. Now AT&T sent me a postcard confirming my install date and also called me to confirm my appointment, never mentioning that there was any kind of problem on their end of things!
My installer said his management was telling him to install our package anyways, even if it didn’t work. Then he would have to put a service ticket in to get the bugs worked out. We, in the meantime, would be left with no cable or internet! No wonder he looked so concerned when I told him that it would be a tragedy for my house to not have internet access. We have voice over IP so we would also be left phoneless. I think he sensed (rightly so) that I would have a fit if he left me with no service so he said he would reschedule me.
I rescheduled for about 10 days out… I hope the problems are fixed by then! I didn’t book any appointments for Friday, so it was a somewhat wasted day business-wise. I will not be happy if this happens again! This morning- Sunday at 8am – I received a phone call from AT&T to see if they were supposed to come out today and install my service. Not sure what that was all about, but lucky for them I was awake anyways because I had to go teach Sunday School! I hope they get their act together! I can’t imagine how they are running things in such a disorganized way!
It makes me think twice about signing on with them… but the silver lining is the package is less expensive than the cable company and better. And we will get several Spanish channels included which is a plus to my husband and I since we are both trying to learn and be fluent in Spanish. I will let you all know how this works out. If anyone else has experience with AT&T U-verse I’d love to hear about it!

I recently had Uverse installed. I had an issue with my first installation being cancelled as well. I was working with person named Michelle. I had her direct number and email address. She was very helpful. After the technician didn’t show she was able to get someone there the next day for me which was great. She apolgized and was very courteous to work with. She told me to save her information if I had any questions or problems in the future. Her email address is mpolitoski@att.net. I’m sure she would be willing to help you.
